Family folklaw had the first Low was William Low a West African.
William Low being his baptised Christian name when he converted to Christianity.
He lived in Scotland one of only fifty black men in the country at that time,
and married a Scots women Ann Moncur.
His son (James) and Grandson (John) and Great grandson (John) all married women
of Scots descent hence his great grandson John Low (Jnr)
and his descendants Look Scottish.
